Technical Lead AI & Platforms (100% remote)

The Role

You will lead a team of 5 engineers delivering complex AI and platform engineering projects for enterprise clients. You are accountable for delivery from architecture and technical strategy through to implementation, quality, stakeholder management and successful production deployment.
This role combines technical leadership with people leadership. Depending on the delivery phase, your time is typically split between engineering (20%), architecture, stakeholder management, and team development. While you remain close to the technology, your primary focus is ensuring successful delivery and helping engineers perform at their best.
This is a remote position. We only accept candidates located in the EU and willing to travel occasionally for customer engagements.

What You'll Own

Delivery & Client Leadership

Own project delivery including scope, technical roadmap, architecture, quality standards, risks and timelines
Work directly with enterprise stakeholders, product owners and project managers to translate business requirements into executable delivery plans
Communicate risks, trade-offs and delivery challenges early and transparently
Lead technical delivery from discovery through production deployment and scaling

Technical Leadership

Design and evolve scalable AI and platform architectures
Lead the development and deployment of production-grade AI platforms
Drive architecture decisions for cloud-native and Kubernetes-based environments
Guide the implementation of AI orchestration frameworks, agentic AI systems and distributed services
Ensure engineering best practices are followed across architecture, testing, documentation, security and governance
Contribute where needed to critical services, APIs and platform components
Challenge and mentor senior engineers on complex technical decisions

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor and develop a team of 5 engineers in a remote-first environment
Conduct regular 1-on-1s and provide constructive feedback and coaching
Foster a high-performance engineering culture
Raise technical standards through code reviews, design reviews and architecture discussions

Platform & Innovation

Build scalable platforms with a strong focus on data sovereignty and enterprise requirements
Contribute to reusable services, accelerators and internal technical assets
Help shape the future technical direction of the company and its platform offerings

What We're Looking For

Must-Have Experience

Proven experience leading engineering teams while remaining technically credible and hands-on
Experience owning technical delivery for customer-facing projects
Strong background in AI Engineering and production AI systems
Experience with Agentic AI and AI orchestration platforms
Deep expertise in backend engineering using Python
Strong Kubernetes experience
Experience designing and implementing platform architectures
Experience building or operating scalable AI platforms in production
Strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures
Experience with event-driven systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ or Redis Streams
Strong understanding of PostgreSQL and distributed systems
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

You Could Be a Great Fit If You Have

Either:
Built and managed Kubernetes platforms at scale
OR
Built AI products, applications or workloads running on top of Kubernetes environments
