A leading hedge fund is building a next-generation, AI-first internal platform for research and recruitment.
We're seeking an experienced Head of Platform Engineering to take ownership of this production system and lead its evolution into a market-leading capability. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who thrives at the intersection of data engineering, platform architecture, and AI systems – and who can shape both the technology and the organization around it.
What You'll Do
Own full technical and strategic responsibility for a large-scale, distributed enterprise platform powering research and recruitment
Assess, modernize, and scale the current architecture with a pragmatic, ambitious roadmap
Build AI-first capabilities into the platform – architecting AI enablement and LLM systems from the ground up
Champion modern architectures: event-driven systems (Kafka), API-first design, intelligent data platforms, and production-grade AI capabilities
Drive engineering discipline through design reviews, CI/CD excellence, and operational resilience
Build and lead the engineering team – hiring talent aligned with a modern, AI-first vision
Partner with product, data, and commercial teams to translate priorities into scalable technical execution
Who You Are
10+ years in software engineering with proven senior technical leadership experience
Strong data engineering foundation – you understand data pipelines, distributed systems, and platform-scale architecture
Recent, hands-on AI/LLM experience (last 1-2 years) – you've shipped AI capabilities in production
Proven track record owning and modernizing existing enterprise platforms, not just greenfield projects
Full-stack ownership mentality – comfortable moving from architecture to hands-on coding to executive strategy
Strong executive communication and team-building capability
Pragmatic, delivery-focused, and forward-thinking on modern software development and AI's impact
Technical skills: Python, Java, Scala, or similar; Kafka, event streaming, API-first design, data platforms
