Backend Team Lead (AI platform) 后端技术主管（AI 平台）

Our client looking for a Backend Technical Lead (AI Platform) with strong Java backend expertise and a passion for AI-assisted engineering to lead the continued evolution of their core backend platforms.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for driving the long-term health, scalability, and modernisation of their mission-critical backend systems. While the platforms are stable and business-critical, they require continuous optimisation, technical debt reduction, architecture improvements, and modern software engineering practices to support future business growth.

You will lead a small team of backend engineers while remaining actively involved in solution design, software development, production support, troubleshooting, and technical decision-making. You will work closely with Product, QA, Infrastructure, and other engineering teams to deliver improvements safely with minimal business disruption.

As AI continues to transform software engineering, you will also champion the practical adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity, software quality, developer experience, and delivery efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & System Modernisation

• Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers.
• Drive architecture improvements, system optimisation, performance tuning, and technical debt reduction.
• Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and code reviews.
• Identify technical risks and drive mitigation plans.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

Hands-on Backend Development

• Participate in software development, production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services, microservices, APIs, and integrations.
• Optimise application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Contribute to CI/CD and automation initiatives.

AI-Assisted Engineering

• Champion AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, and Claude Code.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies.
• Review AI-generated code for quality, security, maintainability, and performance.

Team Leadership & Delivery

• Plan engineering priorities and resource allocation.
• Mentor engineers through coaching and code reviews.
• Support quarterly performance reviews.
• Drive engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Requirements

Technical Expertise

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs, Distributed Systems.
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Kafka/RabbitMQ, Redis, Docker, CI/CD.
• Experience maintaining enterprise production systems.

Leadership & Delivery

• Experience leading engineering teams or technical initiatives.
• Strong ownership and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

AI & Development Tooling

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.
• Ability to review AI-generated code critically.
• Passion for AI-driven engineering productivity.

Ideal Candidate
A hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving complex backend engineering challenges, modernising systems, mentoring engineers, and driving AI-assisted engineering adoption while maintaining engineering excellence.

Proficiency in spoken Mandarin and written Chinese is required to communicate effectively with Chinese-speaking counterparts and stakeholders, and to review Chinese-language documents as part of the role.

资格要求

• 熟悉关系型数据库、NoSQL、Kafka/RabbitMQ、Redis、Docker、CI/CD。
• 具备大型生产系统维护经验。
